Lignum Drums has developed a concept specifically for jazz drummers.  After many conversations and experiments, it became clear that a drum set for jazz drummers needed some special touhes.  Whilst working on this concept, two of the biggest names in European jazz drumming -  Dré Pallemaerts and Stéphane Galland - had chosen Lignum Drums for their outstanding work.

They open new ways and new possibilities in sound and playing that I have never experienced with any other drums before.

They possess an infinite range of dynamics, and respond to the slightest intention.  They have the ability to sing!

Their sound is so warm and crisp.  I hear and feel a sound very pure and natural, old and new at the same time.  Really unique and inspiring.

The job that Gert Breugelmans is doing when making those drums is fabulous and so exceptionnal nowadays.  It’s pure craftsmanship, dedication and love.

Lignum drums are very special instruments.
They are created by the very advanced craftsmanship and the enormous love for sound, music and finest woods of Gert Breugelmans.
These qualities directly reflect back to the artists when playing his instruments.
The concept of how they are built gives them a very present sound with a lot of projection,
even so that a 'little' jazz-kit gives you a 'big' sound on 'big' stages and festivals.
I've always been a big fan of 'vintage' or 'old' and 'played' drums.
My Lignum set is the only 'young' drum-set that proudly stands next to my collection of vintage or old Gretch (60ties and 70ties),
Slingerland (60ties), Ludwig (60ties) and Yamaha's (80ties).
I've been using the Lignum drums on many concerts and several cd recordings.

I used 'Flanders walnut' (Juglans Regia ), which is highly prized but high-quality batches are very difficult to obtain.  However, I persevere because the results are worth it!
