For most drummers, the snare drums is THE most important and highly cherished part of the drum set.  Lignum puts a lot of effort into making an organic, wide and fat-toned range of snares that will give you a new level of playing experience!

Unique Lignum lugs

Lignum lugs are solid, turned brass.  Brass is considered by many to be the best material sonically, for use on drums.

The lugs are polished by hand and chromed by the top chrome company in Flanders.  Brass is known to be the best and most stable base for chrome work an, of course, brass does not rust, which means you won't experience the pitting often associated with chrome placed over steel.

Finally, I used a special lock-nut during assembly, to prevent the lugs loosening under vibration.

Strainer

Although I have always used some of the finest strainers on the market, I have wanted to produce my own exclusive strainer for many years.  Along wiht my friend Mark Van Hameren - who has spent many years making precision instruments for science industries - we set out to develop the ultimate snare strainer.
Mark has shared my passion to design without compromise and - after 5 years and many prototypes - I am proud to introduce you to the Lignum high-end strainer.

Key details :

• manufactured out of high-grade light Aluminium (120 grammes)
  
• precision machined components
• bearing action for extreme smoothness and quiet operation
• classic forward/backward motion (still preferred by most drummers to this day)
  
• adjustable locknut to avoid loosening/detuning

This strainer is now used as standard on all Lignum snare drums.

Lignum snares with woodhoops

Lignum full brass/wood snares

These snares represent the ultimate 'showpiece' instrument from Lignum Drums.  The shell is made using the wood of your choice and combined with all brass hardware and fittings.  The result is a snare that gives a delightfully warm and sensitive response; which is present from the quietest ghost-notes to the hardest of beautiful rim shots.
