In 2012 I caught some very rare Roman wells Oak.
It was found during archaeological excavations in Belgium
Buried several meters underground, 2000 years old and perfectly preserved !!
The cutting year of these trees was determined at 162 AD

The black color of the wood is the result of anaerobic oxidation. Actually this color is the very start of changing into coal. This Oak is about 20% harder than fresh cut Oak.

After a very careful drying process the wood was ready to make drums from in 2014.
I made only 11 snares of this batch.
All the hardware & hoops are made from solid brass , original Lignum Drums

No doubt, the sound of these snares is outstanding !!!
